HP LaserJet 4100 Printer Driver 4.5 Installation Instructions
Upgrading to UPD 4.5
Upgrade to the UPD from earlier versions of the UPD by using the Add Printer Driver Wizard, New Driver option from the printer properties dialog box, or the Install.exe utility.
When upgrading to the UPD version 4.5, the default settings will be set to disabled if no additional action is taken. To maintain policy management during the UPD 4.5 upgrade, you will be required to use the Install.exe utility and one of the switches mentioned above. Using the use the Add printer Wizard will result in setting the UPD policy management to disabled.
Enabling or maintaining policy management through an upgrade is accomplished through the Install.exe utility and the appropriate switches. Use the install switches listed above to maintain the policy management settings.
Examples:
Upgrade only. To upgrade existing queues to UPD 4.5 only, and enable policy management, consider using the following command.
* Install /ni /Policy"MPAservername" /tm
Or for no policy management
* Install /ni /tm
Installing UPD 4.5
First time Driver installation: Policy is disabled
When using the Add Printer Wizard or the Install.exe file to install the UPD 4.5 for the first time on a PC, the default behavior will be that the Policy management is disabled. This means that the UPD will not search for management Policy information created either by the Managed Printer Administrator software, or by the Active Directory Administrative Templates.
Enable Policy management for UPD 4.5
To enable policy management for the UPD 4.5 please use one of the switches mentioned above somewhere in your install command string: /epfhkcu for example:
Example: install /epfhkcu /sm15.15.15.32 /n"hpclj4700-poleR5"
The above command will result in a traditional mode UPD printer being installed on the computer with a name of hpclj4700-pole5 in a PC with the UPD policy management enabled.
Note: the above command assumes that the MPA software is installed on a server named "managed-print"
Additionally, the following command can also be used to enable policy management, and redirect the UPD to search for an alternative server name to find the Managed Printing Administrator software….. install /Policy"computename" ( replace computername with the name of the actual server running the MPA software). The /policy"computername" switch will tell the UPD to look at the server named "computername" to find the policy files generated by MPA.. |
